Millions of years ago there existed some bacteria which tried to reach for the sun. And they made it.
Living in deeper waters they photosynthesized under very low sunlight. So, they tried to get closer to the surface, where there’s more sunlight to harvest. And during their efforts they developed mutations to produce minerals and build rocks that would bring them higher and closer to the sun.
Humans too, try to reach for the sun, and they develop amazing technologies over that journey; and waste; and a natural resources deficit. Will our kind have the fate of bacteria when it comes to resourcefulness and survival?
These bacteria have a sense of a collective goal as they try to reach for the sun. And they also have a sense of producing what they need to achieve this goal: First matter, in this case cement. We humans are mining what we need, we do it the easy way. We can put living systems to work in so many applications, from food to pharma, but yet, we are unable to put living systems to work in our biggest engineering projects: constructions.
This is just about to change.
