In this talk Susan invites you to ask some big questions about money. Where does it come from, who gives it power, and is it possible to create your own? She will talk about a currency she co-founded in Brixton, London, and also some other experiments with money throughout history.
Susan Steed is an economist who has worked in various areas such as housing, social inclusion and legal aid but more recently her interest has focused on the sources of inequality and the financial system. In 2009 she co-founded the Brixton Pound and she was chair of the board of directors until 2015. She is currently finishing a PhD in economics and trying to become a stand up comedian. She is interested in opening up debate around economics and is part of a team that do walking tours about finance and politics in the City of London.
